The minute I stepped foot on the “farm” I felt once again that I was coming to a warm and loving place.  I have been to La Ermita 10 times in the past 8 years.  I have known Bobby Gibson since the mid nineties and have spent countless hours with him at the farm and working in the communities around La Ermita.  I have found him to be generous both with his time and money.  We never went anywhere without stopping to give someone a ride either to town or up on the mountain. Each time was an opportunity to witness for Christ as most everyone we picked up was lost.  Bobby has a true missionary’s heart.  In everything that he does in Honduras or here in the states, it is for the honor and glory of God. His desire is to go where no one else has gone sharing the Good News of Christ.

The first day at the Farm was filled with meeting the children, to have 8 or 10 or more come running, grab Bobby, Juanita and Bobby Jr. was a thrill, and even that first day, many came to me and wanted to be loved!

group

As I got to know them and play ball or just sit and hold them, my thoughts went back 4 months or more when they were still out on the street or abandoned on the coast or just wandering around with nothing to eat, no one to love them or care about them.  Your heart weeps for the Children of Honduras, as there are still hundreds that are wandering about the towns and cities and hamlets.

From the first pictures I saw of the children in January to seeing them now was like 2 different pictures.  Now they are fattening up and most are smiling just to be smiling.  They are learning how to get along with others and that not all adults want to hurt them or abuse them.  They are trusting and loving and want and need the love that we can give them. Only 3 of the children could read or write a little.  The ones that are old enough are in school, kindergarten and beyond.  They are learning some English and other subjects taught by qualified teachers.  Most importantly, they are learning about Jesus.

children

They attend church services during the week in the area around La Ermita and there is a church on the Farm where they are taught in Sunday school and church.  NONE of the children had ever been to a church service or ever heard the name of Christ other than in a curse.

The care of children such as these is a command from Christ Himself He taught that we were to take care of these and to love them.  This is an Eternal opportunity that we have, to give to the support of these children is a blessing both to them and to Gods people.

The needs are great but the rewards are greater.  The children now have an opportunity to come to know the Lord, to learn a skill and to become citizens that are proud of their country and able to contribute to the kingdom of God!

Helping Hands Ministry is open to visits at any time and welcome supporters and others alike to come to Honduras and see for yourselves.  Bobby, Juanita and Bobby Jr. all welcome your questions and of course your financial and prayerful support to feed, clothe, shelter and educate these 20 additions to their family.

Prayer is the key to any ministry and in order to pray intelligently one needs to know the needs of the ministry.

Dear Friends,

Here are photos of some of the children that we have been blessed with in our family home.  These children are in need of a sponsor.  Please look at their precious faces and pray about sponsoring them each month.  A joint sponsorship is only $50 and a full sponsorship is just $100 per month.

develop for our ministry...including our orphanage.

We still need individuals, churches, Sunday school classes, cell groups and others who will give generously on a monthly basis to support the children in our family home.  We ask that you consider a Full Sponsorship ($100 per month) which will cover the expenses of a single child, or a Joint Sponsorship ($50 per month)
